I will try VERY hard to find a new site to submit stock to & post a link A.S.A.P!
You can e-mail with questions, links, stock requests, or just to talk.
If you have an instant messenger you'd like to talk on, send me the info.
If anyone knows of a good stock site, please send me a link!
I will continue to reply to comments & notes here Untill Feb 1st.

:star: The Leave
First let me say it isn't because of you.
Most of people on DA have been somewhere between okay & amazingly sweet and supportive. I've only ever run into a few bad eggs and never had any major issues personally.
I've made many friends on DA over the years.  I love so much sharing, seeing, and being part of art projects. It's really made me feel wonderful to help people out. I am grateful for all the attention & support.
I am going to miss people & aspects of DA Soooo much.
Unfortunately, the Site has become more trouble than it's worth, for me.

Please keep in mind this is my opinion. You're entitled to your own & I'm not trying to push anyone to leave with me. Not my style.

I joined DA over 4 years ago. I started this stock account over 3 years ago, because I wanted to help artists and give back to the art community.
In that time I've watched DA slide farther & farther downhill, and become increasingly less about the art.

The site is now far more commercialized, loaded with over 3 times the adds and pop-ups(we never use to have pop-ups).
DA is spamming my e-mail and inbox here constantly.
DA staff is far less responsive and helpful.
I'm seeing double standards & lack of rule enforcement emerging, including issues with the allowance of porn.
A lot of the new "upgrades & updates"  have been entirely about social networking &/or popularity contests. (tell me the artistic purpose of Llamas… anyone?)
The site is far more complicated (unnecessarily so) & less user-friendly.
And many other small issues.

Probably the single Best example of the downward slip is the New Submit Page.
(journal here rainny-stock.deviantart.com/jo… )
Users were forced without warning into testing a new submit page. Most encountered major issues that meant they could no longer submit. Despite over 17,000 comments most of those reporting issues or proclaiming disgust at the new faulty page the test has been going on for well over 2 months. Not one comment (sad, pledging for help, reporting issues, or screaming in outrage) left on the feedback page has been replied to. There has been no support from DA staff, even when users contact the help desk or other staff. There is no timeline or end date. There is no "Where's what we're working on page. Paying members have been left unable to submit for weeks or months on end with no refund, apology, or acknowledgement from staff.

It seems very much to me that profits, trendiness, and social networking are now far more important to DA than the art and even the artist/ site users.
That was not what I joined for. That is not what I created this account for.

As I said before
"I'm sick of the double standards.
I'm sick of users going unhelped.
I'm way past sick of the attitudes(of staff).
I'm tired of the hardcore commercialization, and Constant sales e-mails.
I'm tired of the everyday site-update, check out this news, look at this new thing, we have a sale, here's some fluff for you messages wasting space in my inbox.
I'm tired of DA site rules only being enforced part of the time.
I can't stand the not so slow shift from art site to social networking site.
I have reached my wits end with the new submit page; all of it's issues, all of the lack of attention and care from staff, the fighting, the pleading, the screaming, et cetera.
"
To add to this…
I am tired of fighting to use my account & look at art.
I'm sick of getting stressed out every time I log into my account.
I do not want to be part of a site that abuses it users (as they have with the test)
I want to be part of an ART SITE, not a secondary facebook.

Over time, things add up.
A pebble won't crush you, but a truck load will do the job quite nicely no matter how small they are individually.

I absolutely agree. One of my biggest pet peeves was the introduction of points ...and that stupid llama thing as well. It destroyed the market for people trying to do commission based work. Now you either are an already established commissioner, or you have to lower your prices to the point of making less than a homeless person it seems. For work that takes HOURS to do, you arnt even making minimum wage...not even close.

People dont seem to understand that 80 points = 1 USD ...so most are selling art for less than a dollar.

I've seen the same thing happen on other sites I used to be a part of as well.

Honestly if FA would just figure out that they need a "groups" system and folders for user galleries....I'd just move all of my stuff over there and give the middle finger to DA as well. Good on you & I hope that you dont have to put up with that crap elsewhere....maybe at least /one/ art site might get the clue to just be that, AN ART SITE.

We can always hope.
